Did you know 9 out of 10 LGBTQ students experience harassment or assault in school?

Hi John,

Did you know that nearly 9 in 10 LGBTQ students experience harassment and assault?

Almost a third of students miss school because they feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Such harassment silences youth, preventing them from thriving in school.

On Friday, April 23rd, tens of thousands of students will participate in the Day of Silence, the largest student-led national protest in support of safe & inclusive schools. We hope that you can support this year's event by:

  • Learn more about the Day of Silence, student stories, and resources about the event by visiting glsen.org/DayOfSilence

  • Participate prior to or on April 23rd through reflection, and/or share our downloadable graphic on your social media handles and tag us @GLSEN or use #DayOfSilence

  • Change your Facebook profile picture by adding our 2021 Day of Silence frame

  • Join us for the Break The Silence rally on April 23rd at 7 p.m. ET on all our social media handles!

Check out this video from our long time supporter and board member, Connor Franta!

Together, we can make schools a more inclusive and safe place for our LGBTQ+ students. We hope you can join us on April 23, 2021!
