The pandemic has exacerbated many challenges and flaws that were already present in our communities. From vulnerable electric grids to an accessibility gap for housing and broadband, it is clear that we have a lot of work ahead of us.
That is why I am contacting you today. We have an incredible opportunity to pass the American Jobs Plan — which will create millions of jobs, make our nation more competitive internationally, and strengthen our economy.
Here are just a few things the American Jobs Plan will do for our nation:
- Fix highways, bridges, airports, and transit systems
- Deliver clean drinking water and high-speed broadband to all Americans
- Build, preserve, and retrofit more than two million homes and buildings
- Create jobs, raise wages, and increase benefits for essential home care workers
- Revitalize manufacturing and invest in research and development
