Virginia Teacher Education Initiative Hosts Third Summer Institute on the American Political Tradition
Our partner program at UVA, the Program on Constitutionalism and Democracy will host its third civics institute for Virginia high school teachers this summer on "The American Political Tradition."

The five-day, small-group seminar, led by faculty partner Lynn Uzzell and other University of Virginia faculty, features a discussion of primary texts such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Federalist Papers.

JMC's K-12 efforts began in 2016 with our first project in Chicago, and our work has since expanded to New York City and Philadelphia along with statewide initiatives in Wisconsin and Virginia. Florida is our first coalition-based project and we are looking to widen our efforts to other regions throughout the country.

Quotes from the Classroom
“I would definitely recommend [JMC Programs] to other teachers for two reasons. First, it was centered around content and investigating that content through primary sources. Second, it gave me a chance to interact with teachers across the state. A lot of “education” institutes do not focus on content, and rarely focus on primary sources.”
– Justin Halterman, High School Teacher
