John, this country was founded on the principle of “No Taxation Without Representation.” But here we are nearly 250 years later, and seven hundred thousand Americans don’t have representation in the American government. This is just wrong, any way you slice it.
Women got the right to vote over a hundred years ago. The Voting Rights Act guaranteed the vote to Black Americans more than 50 years ago. And yet the residents of a major American city—a majority of whom are people of color—are being denied this most fundamental right.
I’m proud to support D.C. Statehood, and I want you to stand with me. Will you add your name and become a citizen co-sponsor of democracy ahead of the Senate’s key vote?
