By the end of this month -- possibly as early as this Friday -- we will know the initial results of the 2020 census.
That means we'll officially know if Minnesota's going to lose a seat in Congress. If we do, you can bet we'll face an extra-high-stakes reelection race.
Analysts have been saying for months that Minnesota is likely to lose a seat in the 2021 redistricting. If that happens, it's going to change the shape of our district -- literally -- and expand it to include voters who are used to voting for someone else.
I'd welcome the chance to represent more of my fellow Minnesotans in Congress. But to do so, we have to win their votes, and congressional races in newly drawn districts -- often between two incumbents -- are notoriously hard-won. Especially when you're going up against a top Republican fundraiser.
