Dear Friends and Supporters

Before we begin, the team at Get Britain Out would like to convey our sincere condolences to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family following the passing of His Royal Highness, The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. I am sure I can speak for our supporters when I say we will be paying our respects this Saturday at 3pm for the funeral service, which will be shown on television. The Duke of Edinburgh was a true example of devoted service to this country, something some other members of the Royal Family - and many politicians - should learn from and aspire to replicate.

The past 2 weeks have once again shown just how out of touch the European Union is when it comes to the reasons people voted to Leave the EU. After nearly 5 years of negotiations, you would think they would understand our clear red lines by now, but apparently not. In response to the growing unrest in Northern Ireland and in an attempt to reduce the number of checks needed on goods moving between Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the EU has now had the temerity to suggest the UK permanently signs up to EU laws on food products and animal welfare. In other words, abandon being independent from the EU. However, even for this princely sum, the EU will only drop the majority of checks - but not all of them. This is attempted blackmail - plain and simple.

The blows don’t even stop there however, because not only would such an agreement stop the UK making our own rules and regulations – one of the reasons the majority of the country voted for Brexit - if we agreed to following EU standards in these areas, we would restrict our own ability to sign new trade deals with other countries around the world. This would effectively give the EU a VETO on any future trade deals we sign, because if the country does not meet the EU’s standards – which they could amend at any stage in the future with no input from the UK Government, then we would not be allowed to import their products.

Major examples of countries we are already in detailed trade negotiations with at the moment are the USA and Australia. A trade deal with Australia is even expected to be signed off next week, with their Trade Minister coming to the UK to finalise the details on Monday. However, if we accept this EU blackmail, then this trade deal, and all the others we have signed so far would be impossible. It is as simple as that. To see the scale of this sacrifice you can see a full breakdown of trade deals the UK has signed so far HERE. ([link removed])

It seems the EU’s insistence on ‘control over everything’ knows no boundaries – it is no wonder so many EU Member States are struggling to survive, including former economic superpowers like Germany.

Cabinet Minister Lord Frost is in Brussels today to meet with his opposite number, the EU Commission Vice-President, Maroš Šefčovič, to discuss the EU’s proposals and counter them, but as I see it, unless the EU is willing to totally restart negotiations on the Northern Ireland Protocol and fix the critical issues at its core, then we are wasting our time. More ‘amendments’ or ‘tweaks’ will not fix the problems we are experiencing, and the EU’s suggested compromises would kill off Brexit entirely. I would also remind everyone, the European Parliament has STILL NOT YET RATIFIED the new UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement which was agreed at the end of last year and it does not look like they will do so for a number of weeks – if ever.

If there is any breaking news from this meeting, please make sure to follow our Facebook ([link removed]) and Twitter ([link removed]) pages for urgent updates.

Now is the time for us to reject these broken agreements and walk away on World Trade Organisation terms.

The Prime Minister must take these threats seriously instead of hiding behind his Ministers and traipsing around the country taking part in photo-opportunities in the lead up to the local elections!
Before I continue, Get Britain Out will try and carry on with our fight to deliver a Real Brexit for the UK for as long as we can. However, we need money if you want us to keep going. Brexit is far from over with the European Court of Justice still holding jurisdiction over us, constant threats of legal action, and no full control over our economy, waters or laws. It is clearly important for us to continue to give you a voice in Westminster and keep up the pressure on the Government now most of the other campaigns have stopped. If you can afford to donate so we can continue our work, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

In some lighter news, which again rubbishes the many claims of Project Fear that the UK would be a pariah on the global trading stage, unable to send our goods anywhere and businesses crippled. In February trade levels got back to Pre-Brexit levels, with companies adjusting to the changes, and COVID-19 restrictions easing. Naturally, we are yet to hear any apologies from the advocates of Project Fear, I am sure they are far too busy trying to come up with their next campaign to try and undermine the United Kingdom and our belief in Brexit.
Despite every attempt by the EU to undermine us, the UK is pushing forward and beginning to see the benefits of Brexit, benefits shared by all who live in the UK, because we have rightly kept to our promises to protect the rights of EU citizens here in the UK. However, such a luxury is not being afforded to UK citizens living in the EU. According to the Withdrawal Agreement, all UK citizens who have chosen to live in the EU are supposed to have their rights protected, whether that be home ownership, voting rights, freedom to travel or having bank accounts. Yet every day we hear new stories of expats being forced to consider moving back to the UK because the EU is not keeping up their end of the deal. Some UK citizens are even being held overnight by Border Police in Europe for staying in countries too long – in some cases, even after they were trapped there because of COVID-19.

If this was the UK undermining the rights of EU citizens here, you can be sure we would never hear the end of ‘racist Britain’, but instead we hear little from the press and nothing from the Government. It is clear the EU is not sticking to its end of the deal, so why are we acting as if everything is fine?

On top of this failure to enshrine the rights of UK citizens in the EU, the top dogs in Brussels have once again turned their attention to promoting vaccine conflicts with the UK and the rest of the world. This week, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has taken the stance of claiming the EU will soon begin making sure all vaccines they use are made 100% within the EU – even though to date the EU had also been having talks with Russia over buying Putin’s Sputnik V vaccines! Only using 100% EU vaccines is however, not possible at the moment, because a UK firm in Yorkshire, Corda International, is the company which provides a number of essential competent parts for the Pfizer vaccines upon which the EU is relying.

This announcement convinces me that this reliance on component parts from the UK is the only reason the EU did not try and cut us off from vaccines made in the EU earlier this year. The EU Commission realised we could respond by cutting off all vaccine production and chickened out. This drive to make all vaccines inside the EU shows the Commission clearly does not want the UK to hold the balance of power over them in the future, and by ending the ability of the UK to respond, they would be free to try and cut off the UK’s supplies

The Government must not ignore this dangerous threat. This is exactly why we at Get Britain Out have consistently been calling for the Government to end our reliance on a wide range of imported products - not just vaccines. If we do not ensure a much greater level of self-sufficiency in this country, we run the risk of being vulnerable to hostile actions from the EU - and other trading partners - actions which could have devastating results on our economy and the lives of the Great British Public.
