Zara and other leading fashion brands are buying cotton from
government-run factories in China, where hundreds of thousands of Uyghurs
are forced to live and work in horrifying conditions.
H&M already took a stand -- now let’s tell Zara to follow and stop
   profiting from Uyghur forced labour!

            John,
Brainwashed, tortured and forced to work in state-run factories. This is
the reality for hundreds of thousands of Uyghurs in China -- and fashion
brands like Zara are buying up the cotton they produce.
H&M has been brave enough to say “no more” to the Chinese government, but
Zara just keeps going along with it. And its millions of customers have no
   idea.
Zara execs are terrified its customers will find out their favorite
clothing store is taking advantage of the brutal repression of Uyghurs to
spin a little extra profit. Let’s make their worst fear come true.
[ [link removed] ]Tell Zara to stop profiting from Uyghur forced labor.
Last month, when the government of China slammed H&M for refusing to buy
cotton from the Xinjiang region, Zara’s spineless execs bowed to pressure
and deleted a statement opposing Uyghur forced labor from its website.
There’s no reason Zara can’t take a stand, just like H&M. If they did and
others joined, the government will have no choice but to back off the
bullying and reconsider the horrifying treatment of Uyghurs.
All that’s missing is the pressure on them to act. Without it, it’s clear
execs will take the easy way out. But our global community has forced
major clothing brands to change course before. When tens of thousands of
SumOfUs members successfully pressured fashion brands to ensure the safety
of Bangladeshi workers -- H&M, Zara and Benetton all got on board. Now
   let’s do it again.
