Throughout the past year there has been a rise in attacks against Asian Americans. Just last month, six Asian women were killed in Atlanta, Georgia in a senseless act of violence that may have been racially motivated.
Let me be very clear: Hate is not welcome here.
Our country is strong because of our diversity. Our nation is at its best when we lift up folks of different backgrounds, races, and ethnicities and treat everyone with respect. We, as a nation, are at our best when we care for each other, especially when times are tough.
That's why I'm proud to support the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, a commonsense bill to help address the surge in anti-Asian violence that will be considered on the floor of the Senate this week.
I stand in solidarity with the AAPI community because we are stronger together.
Thanks for all you're doing,
TC
