Update on the crisis on our border
Hello John,

Since President Biden’s inauguration the border has gone from the safest in decades, under President Trump, to a massive humanitarian crisis. Our borders are dangerously open, children are suffering and the drug cartels and human trafficking organizations are growing richer by the minute.

Four weeks ago I wrote a letter to Attorney General Ken Paxton, signed by almost every Texas GOP Congressmember imploring him to sue the Biden Administration to enforce Title 42, which would close our borders until a time at which the Department of Health and Human Services determines that pandemic emergency restrictions can be lifted. President Biden cannot keep denying the border is a health crisis but insisting businesses and schools remain closed.
I also visited the Kay Bailey Hutchison (KBH) Center in Dallas where over 2,500 illegal immigrant minors are being housed. We learned there is no plan whatsoever about what to do with these young men when the contract with the KBH Center expires in a few weeks. We cannot continue to transport these young men from center to center while tens of thousands more pour over the border. And yet, President Biden continues to ignore the most massive surge in twenty years.

My colleagues and I then went to see the border for ourselves. I was shocked but sadly not surprised at what we found. Minors sleeping crammed into small rooms, facilities bursting with over 1000% capacity, and heroes on the front line of the border who are exhausted and have seen nothing but crisis since President Biden’s policies set this disaster in motion. We were told the Biden Administration was warned by Customs and Border Protection that this disaster was inevitable if they made changes to open the southern border. But these warnings fell on deaf ears.

We saw first-hand the trucks coming through and dropping children off to make their way across the border, and met with DEA agents who walked us through how the drug cartels are taking advantage of our thin resources and smuggling in hundreds of millions of dollars of drugs to streets in every city of Texas and America. It has been over three weeks since Kamala Harris was appointed border czar, and she still has not found the time to see conditions herself.

Since Joe Biden has denied proper media coverage of this crisis, it is imperative that members of Congress bring the truth of what is happening to you. The Democrats want us to forget that they are the cause of the suffering, the danger at the border, and the spread of COVID in these facilities. We will not let them forget now, nor at the ballot box in 2022.
