Strategies & case studies to transform your newsroom

The horrors and traumas keep repeating.

And a lot of people, including the people who cover the news, keep showing us what’s happening, helping us imagine the unimaginable and fighting for answers.

This week, I want to use this newsletter to remind you that those people and places need support. Sharing their work is good. Supporting it is better.

Last month, after another horror, my colleague Doris Truong wrote about how to start being a better ally. This section stuck with me:

“Donating — time or money — to a trustworthy cause is an actionable way to make a difference. You can give money anonymously if you truly want to help without claiming credit.”

Here are some ways to do that:

Support journalists

Donate to IWMF’s Black Journalist Therapy Relief Fund

Donate to the Ida B. Wells Society

Donate to the National Association of Black Journalists

Donate to the Local Media Association’s Fund for Black Journalism

Donate to the AAPI Journalists Therapy Relief Fund

Donate to the Asian American Journalists Association

Support newsrooms in Minneapolis

Donate or subscribe to the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder

Donate to the Sahan Journal

Donate to Minnesota Public Radio

Subscribe to The (Minneapolis) Star Tribune

Donate to MinnPost

Hire journalists who live there
