Dear John,
For millions of Americans, having a parent or loved one who doesn't recognize you isn't an imaginary scenario, but a very real and painful one.
John, I realize that may, in fact, be your reality — as I write to you, more than 50% of people in the United States know someone living with Alzheimer's disease.
For so many, the fight against Alzheimer's is personal. But it's not hopeless. Especially not if I can count on you, John.
I want you to know we're here for you if you need us. Here at the Alzheimer's Association, we know the insidious ways in which Alzheimer's steals a person's essence — destroying our families, our finances and our futures.
That's why we're working so hard to serve the Alzheimer's community through care and support programs like our free 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900) while also accelerating best-of-field research toward a dementia-free future. But we don't do this alone. Our community — who believes the fight to end Alzheimer's is personal — powers our work. Will you join the fight to end Alzheimer's with your first gift today?
Right now, more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease — and as the baby-boomer generation ages, the rate of the disease is expected to skyrocket. Experts project that without scientific breakthroughs to prevent or treat Alzheimer's, by mid-century the number of American baby boomers living with Alzheimer's will reach 28 million.
Alzheimer's is an escalating global health crisis. But there's a way forward, with help and hope.
That's what we provide, with your generous support, as we further our mission to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
We're so grateful for all that you do.
With deep appreciation,
Donna McCullough
Chief Field and Development Officer
P.S. For so many people, this fight is a personal one. When you make a gift today, you help us get one step closer to our vision of a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Thank you.
