John: Last week, President Biden announced a series of executive actions in an effort to curb gun violence. These were important first steps, but now more than ever, Congress needs to come together to enact meaningful gun safety legislation. Last month my House colleagues and I passed H.R. 8 to require universal background checks and H.R. 1446 to close the “Charleston Loophole.” With a deadlocked Senate, we need as much public support as possible to get these initiatives passed. Can you sign the petition to demand the Senate pass these important bills?
Over the past couple of years, I’ve worked with gun safety advocates across the country — fighting like hell for legislation like this. If these bills are able to garner bipartisan support in the Senate, we will be able to pass actionable gun safety legislation.
