BIG NEWS: The House Committee on Oversight and Reform just passed the DC
statehood bill, clearing the way for a vote in the full House of
Representatives.

MORE BIG NEWS: Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) just signed on to DC statehood,
bringing Senate support to a record-breaking 45 senators.

The day the committee started considering DC statehood, the Progressive
Change Institute released polling showing DC statehood is popular with
voters in key swing states by double-digits. This polling can give
swing-state senators such as Democrats Kelly and Sinema in Arizona the
confidence they need to vote YES.

Institute do more critical polling to put DC statehood and other voting
rights issues over the top? Click here.

During the course of the committee hearing:

* One Republican representative claimed that DC's 700,000 residents
should not be represented in Congress because the District doesn't
have any car dealerships. (It does.)
* A Republican witness claimed that DC residents already impact the
national debate because Members of Congress see their yard signs on
the way to work.

DC residents can currently vote for president, but have no representation
in the U.S. Senate despite having more people than some states with Senate
representation.

If DC becomes a state, nearly a million people would (finally) get
representation in the Senate and Democrats would pick up two more
Senators. No one senator would be able to hold the Democratic agenda
hostage!

To convince Congress, we are polling in key states such as Arizona where
Democratic senators Sinema and Kelly have yet to sign on.

key to victory. Make a (tax deductible) donation to do more polling in
Arizona and other states and keep building the case for DC statehood and
voting rights. Click here.
