Dear John,
As we look back at this past year that has brought with it many difficulties, we are continually inspired by the resilience and dedication of our amazing families, teachers and staff.
While the rollout of vaccinations is beginning to return our lives to some semblance of normalcy, we know that the path to recovery will be long and that much work is needed to rebuild.
Devastatingly, the economic impact of the pandemic hit the families that need our help the most, hardest. And when families struggle, children suffer. The truth is, our youngest children are falling behind.

We must start early, reaching new parents to provide support and helping to establish strong relationships and behaviors before their child is even born. Our doula programs, which are a critical piece of our work, do just this.
Diana is a new mom who was pregnant with son Matteo during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. She faced the uncertainty of giving birth during a global pandemic while living more than 2,700 miles away from her mother, her family and her support network in Venezuela. In a new country with limited resources, Diana was feeling scared and unsure what to do next. Luckily, Diana’s prenatal clinic connected her with a Start Early doula who was able to be there with her every step of the way along her pregnancy journey. This critical window can make the difference between a lifetime of challenges and a healthy, thriving child.
Our goal to raise $1.2 million by April 22 is large because the need is greater than it is has ever been before. We need your support now more than ever to help children and families living in under-resourced communities.
