It’s no child’s fault that they’re born into poverty, folks.

When I visited an early-childhood center in Rifle, Colorado, a mother told me, “I work so I can have health insurance, and every single penny that I make goes to pay for this early-childhood center so I can work.”

It’s a triangle-shaped trap that locks people into poverty and makes it almost impossible for them to climb out.

That’s why I worked so hard to ensure my proposal to expand the Child Tax Credit was included in President Biden’s COVID relief package. Now, parents will receive more direct payments and our country is on track to cut child poverty nearly in half.

Washington Republicans can distort the truth and attack our campaign all they want in the hopes of flipping this seat and retaking the Senate majority, but I’ve never backed down from a tough fight — and I’ll never stop fighting for Colorado’s families.
