Last week, the Republican-controlled Texas Senate voted to advance Senate Bill 7, which would dramatically diminish the right to vote for millions of Texans.

Just look at what this awful law does to Texas voters:

• Takes away local governments’ power to expand voting rights;
• Restricts the number of voting machines available at countrywide polling sites;
• Puts strict limits on extended early voting hours;
• Prohibits drive-thru voting;
• Allows partisan poll watchers to record voters who need help with ballot;
• Forbids local election officials from encouraging voters to fill out mail ballot applications
