Vaccinations now open for anyone aged 45 and over

**A message from City Council Leader, Cllr David Mellen:**

Cllr David Mellen, leader of Nottingham City Council

Vaccinations are now open to anyone aged 45 and over. Appointments can be booked online here [ [link removed] ] or by calling 0115 883 4640. However, we still know a number of people who are eligible haven't yet been vaccinated and ask for their support in our collective effort to reduce the risks of Covid-19.

We are doing everything we can to support the NHS in its rollout of the vaccination programme, and especially in attempting to reach those communities where uptake has been lower. We are therefore really happy to be working with them and local voluntary and community organisations to launch a mobile vaccination bus service [ [link removed] ]. It will travel to different parts of the city over the next few weeks, with a team of NHS staff on board to administer the vaccine in a safe way. This is an innovative way to make it as simple a decision as possible for people who are perhaps hesitant about it - taking the jab to them removes a potential obstacle.

The bus will stop off at a number of locations across the city, including Chase Neighbourhood Centre in St Ann?s, Strelley Social Club, The Pelican Pub in Bilborough, Sultania Mosque in Sneinton, Bulwell Market, Forest Road West and Bestwood Park Church.

For further information, and to book a vaccination appointment on the bus, please visit:?[link removed] [ [link removed] ]

It?s worth reiterating that any Muslims in our communities who have a Covid-19 vaccination booked during the holy month of Ramadan ? first or second dose - should not delay having it and go to their appointment. The British Islamic Medical Association has confirmed that having the vaccine does not invalidate the fast. The vaccine does not contain pork or other animal products.

*Last few days to claim supermarket vouchers*

Food shopping

There are just a few more days for Nottingham residents struggling during the pandemic to claim ?50 supermarket vouchers. The City Council is providing the vouchers through the Government?s Covid Winter Grant Scheme, and has expanded the criteria to allow any city residents who receive council tax support to apply.

Anyone who has already applied once can also now apply for a second voucher. But applications close at midnight this Friday and the vouchers are being issued on a first-come, first-served basis. People eligible for the vouchers can apply for them here:?[link removed] [ [link removed] ]. If anyone in receipt of council tax support is struggling to complete the online form, they can call Customer Services on 0115 915 5555 with their council tax account number and they can complete the form on their behalf.

Food banks and community groups are also there to make sure people don?t go without ? click on postcodes or use the map [ [link removed] ] for local information or call free 0800 458 4114.

*Spring weather is back! Let?s keep Nottingham clean*

Clean

As restrictions ease and the weather improves, we expect to see more people out and about. While this is clearly welcome, I would urge everyone at all times to dispose of any litter responsibly ? and especially so now, when our cleaning crews are thinly stretched. Help us keep our parks clean by taking your litter away with you if bins are full. You can report full bins here [ [link removed] ], as well as fly tips, dog mess, overgrown hedges, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, damage to bus stops and much more, so that the council can take action.
