At every level, Republicans are attacking our democracy. Alarm bells are going off, and I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say our democracy is in crisis.
Republicans in 47 state legislatures have introduced more than 360 bills to suppress the vote ahead of the 2022 election.
Mitch McConnell is working with the largest conservative donors in the country to create total legislative gridlock and allow voter suppression to go unchecked.
Donald Trump is continuing to spread his lies and conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.
And Republicans in Congress have determined their one path back to the majority: Stand in the way of any progress, try to block any bill that President Biden supports, and just say “NO.”
It’s clear that Republicans can’t run on the strength of their ideas. They don’t have an alternative to our relief package or infrastructure plan. And no wonder. President Biden’s agenda is hugely popular.
Instead, the Republican Party has hitched its wagon to Trump’s toxic brand of demagoguery with a coordinated attack on voting rights.
They’re hoping these voter suppression efforts will be enough to stop our Democratic Majorities in the House and Senate, stop Biden’s agenda, and worse.
So with our mid-month deadline tomorrow, I’m asking:
