About this webinar:
For the past 20 years, Sherri and her husband have directed the Koby Mandell Foundation in Israel, named in honor of their son who was murdered by terrorists in 2001 when he was 13. The foundation’s flagship program is Camp Koby, a therapeutic sleepaway camp for bereaved children.
Sherri Mandell is a certified pastoral counselor who lectures around the world about grief and resilience. Additionally, she is the founder of AVAPT, American Victims of Palestinian Terror, a group formed to lobby for the rights of American victims of terror in Israel.
Beyond that, Sherri is a brilliant writer. In 2004, Sherri won The National Jewish Book Award for her spiritual memoir, The Blessing of a Broken Heart. Translated into three languages, the book was also adapted into a stage play. Another book of hers, The Road to Resilience: From Chaos to Celebration (Toby Press, 2015), details the spiritual stages of resilience. She has written for numerous magazines and journals including USA Today, The Times of Israel, Hadassah Magazine, and the Jerusalem Post.
Sherri is also the author of two children’s picture books: The Elephant in the Sukkah (Kar-Ben Copies 2019) and The Upside Down Boy and the Israeli Prime Minister (Kar-Ben Copies, 2021) as well as another memoir, Reaching for Comfort, Ben Zion, 2021. She received the ADL "Partners in Peace Award" in 2004 as well as Jewish Women’s International "Women to Watch" Award.
