Great news! We have just extended the deadline for nominations to this year's Volunteer Ireland Awards to midnight Thursday 10th October.
Making a nomination is quick and easy and it can all be done online. So if you've been thinking about it but haven't gotten the chance yet, why not take 5 minutes in the next week and nominate a special volunteer you know?
Everyone who is nominated will receive a 'thank you' card from Volunteer Ireland to show our appreciation for everything that they do. Following a tough judging process, 30 volunteers will be shortlisted and one will be named Christine Buckley Volunteer of the Year at a ceremony in December.
You can read more about the awards here and don't forget to read our handy FAQ about making a nomination. Help us celebrate the ordinary people doing extraordinary things in communities across Ireland and make a nomination today.
Check out this wonderful blog from 2015 Volunteer of the Year Matt Cullen. Matt was named Volunteer of the Year for his work with Swords Tidy Towns and the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association.
Matt suffers from the terminal illness lung fibrosis but that has never dampened his volunteering spirit. His story is a lovely one and shows how much it can mean to someone to get recognition for their dedication despite never seeking it out.
