Illinois Early Childhood Advocacy Week, Day 3: Early Learning & Care Workforce is Essential
#EarlyEdIsEssential
Welcome back! On Day 3 of Illinois Early Childhood Advocacy Week 2021, we’re focusing on supporting and thanking the early learning and care workforce that is essential to child and family success and serves as the backbone of our communities and economy.
Our state’s early learning and care providers have kept Illinois thriving, working and moving forward in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. To the doulas, home visitors, Early Intervention providers, child care providers and others who care for young children: we pledge to keep your needs at the center of early childhood advocacy and policy in Illinois.
Check out today’s actions below to learn how you can amplify the message that the Illinois early learning and care workforce is essential.
How to Take Action
LEARN:
-
In today’s blog, hear how Carie Bires, Start Early Illinois Policy Director, is inspired by her own child care provider to advocate for the workforce.
-
We are excited that Early Childhood Advocacy Week coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Week of the Young Child! Visit the National Association for Educators of Young Children (NAEYC) website for information and activities.
WRITE: Contact your legislators and ask them to make early learning and care a priority in the Illinois state budget.
SHARE: Join today’s Twitterstorm (12:00-2:00 pm CST) to thank a home visitor, doula, early childhood teacher, Early Intervention provider or other member of the early childhood workforce who has made a difference for your family or community. Post using our ready to share images and #EarlyEdIsEssential to express your appreciation for the early learning and care providers in your life. Ask your child to write them a card or make them a video and let them know how essential they are!
DIALOGUE: Is your community group interested in hosting a dialogue with your state legislators about the importance of early learning and care? Contact us at [email protected] to learn more about our legislator dialogue sessions.
