American voting rights have been under attack for decades.
Following the record-breaking Black, Brown and Youth voter turnout in the 2020 elections, including the Georgia Runoff election, state legislatures across America released an offensive onslaught of undemocratic legislation designed to specifically suppress the votes of communities of color.
Next month, activists in towns and cities all across the country will participate in an historic event, organized in the spirit of John Lewis, to push back against these attacks and build support for H.R. 4, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act as well as the For the People Act (now S.1 in the Senate).
On this webinar we will discuss these two historic pieces of legislation that can help dismantle voter suppression legislation throughout America, as well as the plans coming together for this incredible day of action on May 8, which will include:
- National broadcast featuring speeches, presentations and performances!
- Virtual and in-person press conferences
- Votercades kicking off 3pm local time, more than 80 locations so far
- Trainings on the importance of S.1 and H.R.4 -- why we need both!
