As salaamu ‘Alaikum and Ramadan Mubarak,
Every year, we celebrate the blessed month of Ramadan, and we praise the Almighty for honoring us to witness it again so that we may be among the ones who are forgiven. Ramadan is an opportunity to self-evaluate and adjust any imbalance in our lives. It is also an opportunity for organizations that work, on your behalf, to serve our noble and just causes to report to you on their efforts and successes, which would not have been achieved without the grace of Allah first, and then your generous support. Can we count on you to make a zakat-eligible donation to help build on the successes of our work? Last Ramadan was unique, coming during a pandemic that disrupted all aspects of our lives and cut us off from our communities. But the essence of Ramadan remained the same: supplication, mercy, and forgiveness. With the grace of Allah, Muslims in America have proven that they are resilient, their belief in Allah is firm, and that they understand the role entrusted to them by the Lord. Thanks to your support, AMP was able to achieve so much since last Ramadan. We hosted our largest-ever virtual Palestine Advocacy Days with more than 150 congressional meetings and our first-ever virtual conference with thousands tuning in from all over the globe.
In these past few months alone, we have mobilized support for three groundbreaking Congressional letters supportive of the Palestinian people, organized our #BoycottIsraeliDates campaign, and launched two educational series on Black-Palestinian solidarity and Palestinian cuisine. We are progressing and have so much more planned this year, including launching our affiliated 501c4 organization to enable us to take our advocacy work to the next level in 2021. As you can see, COVID-19 has not defeated us nor diminished our will. Israeli oppression exists, pandemic or no pandemic. No matter how enormous the challenges are, our work to achieve justice in Palestine cannot stop. We know that Allah (SWT) is with us, and that we are on the right side. We are also confident that we have partners in you who will not abandon the blessed cause of Palestine. Ramadan was the month that initiated Islam to fill the world with justice and light, just as it was filled with injustice and oppression beforehand. We are following in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, in fighting oppression and striving for justice in Palestine and elsewhere.
