What do we do? Rise up & fight back!

Hey, John. The Trump administration’s relentlessly cruel attacks on immigrants of color are at odds with everything we believe in. If you’re outraged want to do something about it, check out this list of ways to help.

Introducing: The NWLC Abortion Rights Project

Attacks on abortion rights may have temporarily disappeared from the headlines but the depth and seriousness of these attacks continue, as does our work to confront them. That’s why in addition to our extensive existing reproductive rights and health work, we’ve also launched a brand new Abortion Rights Project, a groundbreaking campaign to protect and expand abortion access and to support and showcase those on the frontlines of this fight. We’re beginning this work by providing an initial investment of $350,000 to 11 groups across the country working to keep clinics open, help people access abortion care, educate the public and drive narrative change on abortion, engage in grassroots organizing especially among communities of color, challenge abortion restrictions, and strengthen abortion rights. NWLC will also provide these organizations with legal and technical assistance, research, analysis, and grassroots media and visibility efforts.

As Fatima, our President & CEO said, “Our country is engaged in one of the greatest gender justice fights of our time. Anti-abortion politicians are banning abortion, shutting down clinics, criminalizing providers, and shaming women who seek an abortion. Make no mistake: an abortion ban in Georgia is the same as the attempt to shut down an abortion clinic in Arkansas, and these are the same as the next attack in the next state. This is a coordinated effort to end abortion at any cost, and to strip away our rights to safety, dignity, and equality.” We are all in on this critical fight to protect access to safe, legal abortion, and we hope you’re with us, too. Your Feminist Moment of Joy

So how ‘bout that WORLD CUP, John? There are so many joyful moments to choose from in this victory; it is truly hard to choose just one. But I would really appreciate it if someone could pour the following quote from Abby Wambach, former USWNT captain and the world’s all-time leader in international goals scored, in a coffee mug for me every morning:

“This exact team was made for this exact American moment. We all just watched brilliant, brazen, united, joyful, unapologetic women — scoring, speaking out and celebrating on the world stage… this team showed America what’s possible, no — they showed us what is INEVITABLE: women will lead us. And will win. And we won’t keep our mouths shut about inequality any longer. Now pay them.”
