310 businesses and investors signed an open letter to President Biden today calling for the U.S. to “adopt the ambitious and attainable target of cutting GHG emissions by at least 50% below 2005 levels by 2030.” The letter was organized by Ceres and our partners at the We Mean Business coalition.
Ranging in size from small companies to major corporations, the businesses that signed the letter employ nearly 6 million U.S. workers across all 50 states and represent more than $3 trillion in annual revenue.
This call to action shows the strong private-sector support for the U.S. to set an ambitious 2030 emissions reduction target, also known as the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), to support the goals of the Paris Agreement and ensure we achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
The letter has been covered by dozens of press outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and US News
, which will only increase pressure on the U.S. to establish a strong NDC.
As an individual, you can call your representatives to let them know you agree with the 310 businesses and investors that support a strong NDC. Look up your reps now.
Thank you.
