John -- It’s hard to believe, but as of today we’re officially 100 days into Jared’s second term in Congress.
We sent Jared back to Washington to break through partisan gridlock and be a fierce advocate for Maine, and that’s exactly what he’s doing. Here are some highlights of what Jared has accomplished in the first 100 days of his second term:
→ Jared introduced the bipartisan Rural Education Investment Act to help address teacher shortages in rural schools.
→ The House’s bipartisan National Apprenticeship Act included Jared’s amendment to make Maine’s heritage industries -- agriculture, forestry, fishing, and hunting -- eligible to receive federal funding through the programs outlined in the bill.
→ Jared was an original cosponsor and voted to pass the Equality Act in the House, supporting protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation.
→ Jared led a group of over 100 House members to push House leadership to hold a vote on the Protecting the Right to Organize Act -- legislation that would give labor unions greater negotiating power and expand protections for workers -- which was then passed in the House.
→ Jared introduced an amendment to H.R. 1 to prohibit former members of Congress from lobbying and impose fines on those who violate this ban.
→ Jared was an original cosponsor and voted to pass the For the People Act in the House -- the most comprehensive election reform and anti-corruption legislation in decades.
→ Jared was proud to support removing the arbitrary and unnecessary deadline for constitutional ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, helping Congress pave the way towards guaranteeing equal rights under the law regardless of sex.
→ Domestic violence is a serious issue in Maine that has been exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic, which is why Jared once again supported the bipartisan Violence Against Women Act to address domestic violence, sexual assault, and related issues.
→ Jared was proud to once again vote in support of the American Dream and Promise Act which would provide a path to citizenship for Dreamers.
