Here in Virginia, our governor just signed a landmark law expanding voting rights. Unfortunately, not every state is following our lead.

You've probably heard about the sweeping Georgia law that limits ballot drop boxes, makes oversight of elections more partisan, and prevents groups from giving food and water to people who are in line to vote. Now Texas is on the cusp of passing legislation that bans extended voting hours, closes polling locations in minority neighborhoods, and more. And 45 other states have introduced voter suppression legislation in 2021.

Mark and this team are fighting back. The Forward Together PAC, which Mark created in 2006 to support Democratic candidates in Virginia and around the country, is working to fight voter suppression by electing Democratic Senators who support voting rights. Voter suppression is wrong, and it doesn't just hurt the people in the states where it's passed. That's because who gets to vote in a state like Texas, or Georgia, or Arizona could determine the outcome of a national election — like the next presidential election of 2024.

That's why it's essential that we move quickly to stop voter suppression. In the Senate, Mark is working to pass voting rights legislation, including the For the People Act, which would prohibit many state-level voter suppression policies.
