NY Times: "Florida Crisis Highlights a Nationwide Risk From Toxic Ponds"

“They’re just an irresponsible way to store very dangerous waste,” Daniel E. Estrin, Waterkeeper Alliance general counsel and advocacy director, told The New York Times in an explanatory piece on the recent crisis at a former phosphate plant in Florida. The piece highlighted that there are thousands of open-air lagoons housing toxic waste from mines, power plants, and industrial animal agriculture around the country putting communities in harm's way.
