Even as we work to pass historic legislation in the U.S. Senate where Republican control has prevented progress for so long, we need to stay laser-focused on GOP efforts to steal the next election by suppressing access to the ballot box in states across the country.
You already know about the onerous new Georgia voter suppression law. But Georgia is not alone.
The Texas Senate has advanced new legislation that would limit extended early voting hours, ban drive-thru voting, and stop election officials from proactively sending mail-in ballot applications to voters.
We must protect the right to vote and stop this nationwide Republican voter suppression campaign.
If you agree, add your name to demand passage of the For the People Act to protect voting rights and stop GOP voter suppression in Georgia, Texas and across the country. >>
In Texas, just like Georgia, Republicans view increased voter turnout as a mortal threat to their control. That’s exactly why we see the GOP working tirelessly to make it more difficult for people of color and youth to vote in the Lone Star State.
Texas has the second-largest pool of nonvoting people of color of any state in the country and the number of potential voters of color far exceeds the margin of difference in statewide elections.
Joe Biden lost Texas by less than 700,000 votes, and despite the record turnout on both sides, exit polls and Census data estimate that 4.5 million eligible people of color still did not vote. And Texas Republicans are worried that could change.
It's nothing less than an attack on democracy itself.
Only action at the federal level by passing the For the People Act can stop this Republican voter suppression campaign. Add your name to my petition if you agree >>
