Friend,
There are few things more sacred in our democracy than the right to vote. But going back only a handful of decades, that right wasn't guaranteed to everyone in America. If I had been of voting age in the 1950s and showed up to my polling location, Jim Crow laws likely would have prevented me from casting my vote – all because I am a Black woman.
Half a century later, we're facing an urgent wake-up call: Echoes of Jim Crow are rising in the modern-day Republican Party. From Georgia to Texas and even here in Florida, the GOP is pushing voter suppression laws designed to limit the right to vote. And we need to be honest about who they're targeting: minority voters.
Georgia is receiving a lot of attention for these heinous tactics – and here in Florida, the GOP is gearing up to institute a carbon copy of Georgia's voter suppression legislation: curbing voters' ability to mail in their ballots and making it illegal to hand out water to voters waiting in line.
Under the charade of protecting the integrity of elections, Republicans are coordinating to shut out Democratic voters – because when Democrats show up, we win. That's why I've put together an urgent strategy poll that I'm counting on 3,211 grassroots supporters to answer. These actions are key to fighting back, so please answer:
