Making sure you saw the news, John.
In this May's primary election, Pennsylvania voters will have the chance to decide if the state legislature should have a role in disaster declarations.
If the state legislature then chooses to end the current disaster declaration, we would lose federal funding. Losing federal relief would be disastrous for Philadelphians and Pennsylvania families.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic downturn that followed, our state has received more than $1.3 billion in additional Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits from the federal government. This critical funding has helped families keep food on the table in some of the hardest times, but they risk losing this relief and more if the legislature gains a role in disaster declarations.
I am pledging to vote NO on the proposition that would give the Pennsylvania legislature the power to end our state's disaster declarations. The effects of this pandemic will last for years, and we can't leave working families behind. Will you join me by pledging to vote no?

It's clear this is just the latest attempt from extremist lawmakers' to politicize a global pandemic that has taken over half a million American lives -- including ending the lives of over 25,000 Pennsylvanians. This pandemic isn't political, and it's important that working families continue to get the help they need as we rebuild our economy.
That's why I will be voting NO on the proposition that would give extremist lawmakers in the Legislature the ability to rob much-needed relief from Pennsylvanians. To join me, take the pledge today.
