Dear John,

Last Chance for Animals (LCA) is asking supporters to call on Canada's Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, the Honourable Bernadette Jordan, to deny Marineland Canada's request to export 5 Beluga whales to Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut.

LCA has just released a video explaining the 5 reasons why the Beluga whales should not be exported.  Click here to watch.

To date, the Minister has not announced a decision on whether she plans to deny or approve the export permit. In July 2019, Canada passed the historic Ending the Captivity of Whales and Dolphins Act, which recognizes the harms of captivity on cetaceans and aims to phase out cetaceans in captivity.

Watch and share LCA's video explaining the 5 reasons why the Beluga whales should not be exported.
Exporting whales would remove them from the protections of Canadian law.  Specifically, the exported whales to Mystic Aquarium would leave them vulnerable to captive breading and entertainment performance when the export permit expires in 5 years.  This would not be in line with the intention of the Ending the Captivity of Whales and Dolphins Act Click here to learn more.

You do not have to live in Canada to make a difference - this is a global issue.  If the export permit is approved, the remaining 40 plus Beluga whales at Marineland Canada could be exported to countries without as much protection as Canada.  Contact the Hon. Bernadette Jordan and ask her to deny the export permit.  See below for details.
