As part of the Heifer community, you know that just one animal can change everything for a family in need, providing protein-packed milk or nutritious eggs for children to eat. But the key to families truly escaping hunger and poverty is a reliable and steady income.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Nepal, lockdowns caused markets to close. Without markets, farmers had nowhere to sell their food. Produce began to rot … and people who depended on markets — and Heifer farmers — were going hungry.

Thanks to Heifer, communities in Nepal surged into action, creating agri-ambulances that turned farmers into food first responders. They worked together to safely gather produce and deliver it directly to those in need. Farmers who once struggled to feed their families are now helping others in need — all while ensuring their own families do not slip back into poverty.

Together, this community showed that they are stronger together ... and that they are stronger than the pandemic. Thank you for being part of our Heifer community. We are stronger with you by our side.
