Tomorrow evening, we will begin Yom Ha’Atzmaut, a celebration the rebirth of the modern, vibrant dynamic State of Israel. But the road to this position was laid with tremendous human sacrifice. This evening Yom Hazikaron begins, when we commemorate the more than 23,000 fallen Israeli soldiers and victims of terror. In honor of Yom HaZikaron, join us TODAY as we interview Sherri Mandell, an exemplary role model of the turning of pain and loss into love and healing.

For the past twenty years, Sherri and her husband have directed the Koby Mandell Foundation in Israel, named in honor of their son who was murdered by terrorists in 2001 when he was 13. The foundation’s flagship program is Camp Koby, a therapeutic sleepaway camp for bereaved children.
