Dear ,
Black and Brown people continue to be harmed and killed at the hands of law enforcement. Dianne Morales’ Defund the Police; Fund the People platform is the boldest strategy of any mayoral candidate to finally reimagine safety for all New Yorkers. And we’re excited to get on the ground to co-build that vision with you. Activist Emerald Snipes is officially joining the campaign as our Fund the People Organizer, and will engage communities about police accountability, safety and equitable investments. She will focus on support for working parents, especially those with intersectional realities. Emerald is the proud daughter of Eric Garner, who the NYPD killed in the summer of 2014, and the sister of the late activist Erica Garner — and has been instrumental in national advocacy against police brutality.
Like Dianne, Emerald is a single mother, caregiver and fighter who knows that when we say "Defund the Police; Fund the People," we’re inviting our neighbors to share what a safe, inclusive and equitable city would mean for them. Having Emerald in this with us, engaging directly with the communities that have so often been left behind in our city, is an honor, a privilege and another reason we’re going to keep fighting alongside the People, for the People.
People want to hear from those who have been on the ground fighting for us. Your contribution today will allow us to increase our outreach efforts to make sure that no voice goes unheard. Will you help us out? In solidarity,
