If we want to truly reform our democracy and ensure every American’s voice is heard, we must pass H.R. 1, or the For the People Act of 2021.
There’s no time to waste – not when Republicans are coordinating the passage of Jim Crow-era voter suppression laws across the country. Please chip in what you can today to support my fight to pass H.R. 1 and protect our democracy.
I’m proud to sponsor H.R. 1 because this bill has the bold and sweeping set of reforms our democracy needs. Here’s just some of what H.R. 1 would do:
Expand automatic and same-day voter registration
End partisan gerrymandering
Make Election Day a holiday so people have more time to vote
Overturn Citizens United and get money out of politics
Closing the revolving door between Congress and lobbying firms
Passing H.R. 1 is essential if we want to achieve popular progressive priorities like Medicare for All, raising the minimum wage, and a Green New Deal. Republicans know that too – which is why they’ve introduced over 250 voter suppression bills in 43 states to make it harder for people to make our voices heard.
