The Biden-Harris Administration recently introduced the American Jobs Plan, a historic proposal to invest in our nation’s infrastructure and create millions of well-paying jobs.

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to pass a transformative piece of legislation that will revitalize our economy while helping us battle climate change, one of the most pressing issues of our time. As a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, I’ll play a key role in passing the American Jobs Plan and finally putting our nation on the path to a clean energy economy.

Here’s what’s in the American Jobs Plan — and what this means for the future of our nation:

Historic investments in transportation infrastructure. The Biden-Harris proposal includes a $621 billion investment in transportation infrastructure to rebuild our nation’s highways, bridges, and roads. This plan dedicates $174 billion to investing in the electric vehicle market, including a goal of electrifying the U.S. Postal Service fleet — a key issue that I’ve been fighting for with my Postal Vehicle Modernization Act.

Spending for community infrastructure and American manufacturing. This plan includes hundreds of billions that will supercharge local economies — from 21st Century broadband, to clean drinking water, affordable housing, updates to schools and VA hospitals, to investments in the human capital on which our economy depends: home and community-based care for older and disabled Americans.

Moving our nation towards a clean energy future. The American Jobs Plan will help us fight the climate crisis with tax credits for clean energy, a massive investment in research and development, a new clean electricity standard, and the creation of the Civilian Climate Corps.
