Gerrymandering, voter suppression, and dark money. It’s obvious to anyone paying attention that we must end this undemocratic trinity that’s plaguing our democracy.
I recently testified before the U.S. Senate to advocate for the passage of the For the People Act. I expressed my grave concerns about the large and powerful faction in this country so intent on retaining power that they will bend or break the rules of our democracy in order to do so. Look no farther than last month when Republicans in Georgia passed a shameful Jim Crow voter suppression bill.
The day after my Senate testimony -- and just a few short months after record-breaking voter turnout in the 2020 elections in Georgia and the nation -- Georgia Republicans passed SB 202, their voter restriction bill. The bill includes new restrictions on voting by mail despite Georgia implementing no-excuse absentee voting over a decade ago. The bill was so egregious -- and controversial -- that when a sitting, Black state legislator tried to peacefully speak out against it and watch the governor sign the legislation into law, police arrested her.
The reasons to pass the For the People Act are piling up. It’s time for Congress to exercise its constitutional authority to protect our representative democracy and end the undemocratic trinity of issues plaguing us.
Will you pitch in a few dollars to help the All On The Line team continue our grassroots advocacy campaign to pass the For the People Act? ??

If we can end partisan gerrymandering, expand voting rights, and eliminate dark money in our political system, we can start building a more fair democracy. We can achieve long-term advances on issues from employment to education, from healthcare to housing, and in civil rights and criminal justice. We can take action to finally protect the right to vote and the right to representation for people across the country. Congress must pass the For the People Act.
We must not slip deeper into a system in which partisan politicians use undemocratic tools to entrench themselves in power with no regard for the people they’re supposed to serve. It’s why I’m asking you to make a donation to All On The Line to help us advocate for a fairer America. Can I count on you to pitch in?
