It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and here's what we're looking forward to this week:
DSA National has shared its first Platform Draft with all DSA members, in advance of the 2021 National Convention. Members are invited to view and comment on the draft, and guess what? That includes us Seattle-area Socialists! Let’s all have a look at the draft and help make our National Platform the best it can be.
The news late last week that workers at the Bessemer, AL Amazon warehouse voted against unionization comes as a frustrating reminder of the power of billionaire-owned megacorporations, but does well to draw attention to how unfair the rules are around organizing your workplace in the United States, and how important protecting our right to organize through the PRO Act is, now more than ever.
Our April General Membership Meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday, April 13th at 7:00 PM, but you really should make sure you RSVP for the meeting right here and now!
This meeting’s particularly exciting because we’ll be voting on endorsements. If you’re a member and have an opinion on whom our chapter should promote and support in local, state, or federal elections, we strongly encourage you to register, attend, and of course, vote with us!
(If you’re not a member, you could totally join us today, go to the meeting tomorrow, and vote! We’re serious.)
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Well, for Ecosocialists, at least. Earth Day to May Day is back! Here's a preview of what festivities await:
Earth Day, 4/22, all day: Got Green is launching a campaign community-control of land that provides permanently-affordable green housing, food security programming, and community-based care services. Choose your own adventure: on the ground and online!
