John, electing Black mayors throughout the South is just one way to challenge the status quo and address the absence of Black people in our nation’s government. Their presence and their dedication to dismantling oppressive systems is the first step toward much-needed change on a larger scale.
With that said, allow us to introduce you to Richard Adams, a member of our Amplify 100, and a candidate running for Mayor of North Augusta, South Carolina.
Richard Adams is a dedicated husband, father, and educator, who owns three local barbershops and a barber school, teaching young men the value of entrepreneurship. Adams is a leader with gusto, dedicated to creative problem solving and positively impacting his community through the implementation of different initiatives aimed at improving the overall quality of life for North Augusta residents.
His plans include:
-
Bringing jobs and opportunities to North Augusta
-
Creating a Hall of Fame to honor the professional athletes from the area and student-athletes
-
Implementing a city-wide health initiative complete with an annual 5K run and mentoring program to ensure the continued success of local students
We know that Richard Adams will make a great mayor for the city of North Augusta, but he needs our help. Can you split a $10 donation between Amplify Action and the Adams campaign so that together we can elect more Black men?
