Nominees Would Help Fill Critical Roles

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Joe Biden will nominate Tucson, Arizona, Police Chief Chris Magnus to lead Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and immigration expert Ur Jaddou to head U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the New York Times reports.

Magnus is a member of the Law Enforcement Immigration Task Force, and Jaddou served as chief counsel at USCIS under the Obama administration.

"If confirmed, these nominees will bring needed leadership to parts of the administration that have their work cut out for them," said Ali Noorani, President and CEO of the National Immigration Forum.

"Chris Magnus has real-world experience as a police chief along the border who has prioritized public safety and community trust. He understands that security requires us to treat all people, including migrants, with dignity. Just as important, Ur Jaddou would bring expertise and compassion to USCIS, an agency that is the face of the United States for so many."
