It’s an amazing honor to be this year’s Democrat of the Year alongside my friend Congressman Jason Crow at the Colorado Democrats 4th annual Obama Gala.

The last year served as a critical test of our strength, and I couldn’t be prouder to be the Governor of the state of Colorado.

Even during a pandemic, Colorado had incredible voting numbers—a testament to the hard work done by Democrats around the state and our first-class vote by mail system that makes voting safe, secure and accessible to everyone.

We’ve used our majorities in the state legislature to pass bold legislation that truly builds a Colorado for all, including lowering the cost of health care, capping the cost of insulin at $100/month, reforming our criminal justice system, moving us towards 100% renewable energy, protecting the civil rights of LGBTQ Coloradans, keeping our communities safe with commonsense gun safety reforms, increasing access to affordable housing, and so much more!

We can’t turn back the clock and reverse the progress we’ve made. We need to expand our majorities in the State House and State Senate and continue to flip seats all across the state—from local races all the way up the ticket.

I know the Colorado Democratic Party is committed to that mission, and the Obama Gala is the way they fund year-round organizing, messaging projects, voter registration and so much more.
