If Tom Cotton thinks we have an under-incarceration problem in America, one thing is clear: He does not care about people of color in this country. But of course, we already knew this -- he came under fire just last year for calling slavery a “necessary evil.”
In the middle of a criminal justice reckoning in America, where our institutions are finally coming to terms with the institutionalized racism they were built on, Tom Cotton is taking a firm step in the opposite direction. And here's why that's such a problem: Tom Cotton is one of the rising stars of the Republican Party, and is dedicated to preserving Donald Trump's legacy of racism and xenophobia.
Friend, if we don't put everything we've got into defeating Republicans like Tom Cotton, it's this kind of racist, dangerous rhetoric that will reign in the halls of Congress. We can't let that happen.
