Help us rush emergency food and other urgent aid to children and families in Yemen and other crisis areas.

You might remember me, John,

I'm Madiha Raza, the IRC's senior communications officer for Yemen, and several other crisis areas. Tonight and for the rest of the next 30 days or so, I will join millions of people around the world in observing the holy month of Ramadan. I'm looking forward to being able to take this month to increase my spirituality, take stock and reflect.

I do expect it to be, as it is every year, difficult to observe day-long fasts. But I know iftar, the evening meal, will be nutritious and plentiful. That's simply not the case for many families in Yemen who may not know where their next meal will come from...

During Ramadan, we are offering a limited-time dollar-for-dollar match — which starts right now — so we can reach more children and families in Yemen and other crisis areas with critical aid, including emergency food. Rush your most generous gift today »

After six years of war, famine now looms over Yemen, an indirect and critical consequence of this prolonged conflict. Soaring food prices make even the basic foods impossible to afford for families already struggling to survive. As we speak, over half the population in Yemen is going hungry, and acute cases of malnutrition for children under 5 is at the highest ever recorded.

This is a true emergency, John. Yemeni children are facing starvation at an alarming rate and they need your help. As a member of the IRC team focused on the crisis in Yemen, I see firsthand that when there's an emergency like this, it takes all of us to make an impact. I hope we can count on you to make an urgent donation today to support our work in Yemen and worldwide.

Our teams in Yemen recently gathered data from an analysis, from the last year, about the impact of rising food prices. We found that families are having to resort to cutting down meals or borrowing from neighbors just to survive. We also received reports of children having to work or be married off in order to ease financial pressures.

With your generosity, worth 2X during this limited-time match opportunity, more children and families can receive the nourishing food, medical care, and urgent aid needed to survive and thrive.

This Ramadan, please make a gift to help people in the world's toughest places.

Whether you observe the holy month of Ramadan or not, I hope your month ahead is full of blessings, peace and prosperity.

Ramadan Kareem,

Madiha Raza
