Heroes Giving Week - Starts Today

John,

Here we go — it’s Heroes Giving Week!

We are thrilled to kick off this BIG week for our nation’s heroes — heroes who have sacrificed for our country … heroes like Matt Amos.

Matt Amos

Marine Matt Amos stepped on an IED during his third deployment in Afghanistan and lost both of his legs. Matt’s recovery was difficult and stressful for him and his family, but DAV was there. DAV helped guide Matt through a complicated claims process to secure the benefits he needed to support his family, allowing him to focus on his healing. This included Matt finding prosthetics two and a half years after his injuries that helped change his life.

Years later, when Matt heard about a 10-year-old boy who was born without a forearm and had a Christmas wish to get a prosthetic arm, he was in a unique position to pay forward the help he received from DAV.

That’s because Matt was now working at the prosthetics company that had helped him, and he arranged for the little boy to fly to Kansas to receive a new prosthetic for Christmas — all at no cost to the boy’s family.
