Call on your local candidates to commit to action to end violence against Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit persons. | View in browser.
Dear John, We are mid-way through the federal election campaign and we need to take action to make sure that human rights—including women’s rights—are key election issues! We asked all of the federal parties for their positions on our Top 10 Election Asks, and so far three parties have responded (you can read them here). One of our key calls is for all federal parties to commit to developing a National Action Plan to Address and Prevent Gender-Based Violence including, as recommended by the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, the staggeringly high levels of violence against Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people. We are calling on all parties to stop downplaying or dismissing the scale and severity of the violence experienced by First Nations, Metis, and Inuit women, girls, and two-spirit persons in Canada, and take concrete action to end the violence. Ready to do more? We need your help throughout this election to make this and other urgent human rights an election issue.
Sincerely,
You received this email because you requested to be informed about opportunities to protect human rights.
