Call on your local candidates to commit to action to end violence against Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit persons.  | View in browser.

Dear John,

We are mid-way through the federal election campaign and we need to take action to make sure that human rights—including women’s rights—are key election issues!

We asked all of the federal parties for their positions on our Top 10 Election Asks, and so far three parties have responded (you can read them here).

One of our key calls is for all federal parties to commit to developing a National Action Plan to Address and Prevent Gender-Based Violence including, as recommended by the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, the staggeringly high levels of violence against Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people.

We are calling on all parties to stop downplaying or dismissing the scale and severity of the violence experienced by First Nations, Metis, and Inuit women, girls, and two-spirit persons in Canada, and take concrete action to end the violence.

Will you call on your local candidates to commit to action to end violence against Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit persons?

Ready to do more? We need your help throughout this election to make this and other urgent human rights an election issue.

More you can do:

  1. Sign up for election campaign updates
  2. Join our webinar tomorrow (Thursday, October 3rd) to learn more about how you can get involved
  3. Join a Sisters in Spirit vigil in your community on Friday, October 4th honouring the lives of Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit persons who have gone missing or been murdered. Join a vigil near you or learn more about how you can take action.

Thank you for taking action and for being a strong voice for human rights, including women's rights, during this important election.

Sincerely,

Jackie Hansen
