The San Francisco Board of Education recently announced that it will no longer push forward with its controversial plan to rename dozens of schools in a misguided attempt at social justice. This is a huge win for California schools!
And it’s thanks to Kevin Faulconer, who led the charge against the renaming!
The school board voted unanimously to drop the initiative, claiming that “it seeks to avoid frivolous litigation.”
California’s K-12 education system is FAILING our children right now. We have more kids who haven’t seen the inside of a classroom in over a year than any other state. Kids aren’t showing up for online classes, and of the ones who do, many are struggling with everything from grades to severe anxiety and depression.
The focus should have never been on renaming schools — it should be on safely reopening classrooms for in-person learning.
Our kids are hurting, and changing the names of schools does nothing to get them open and serving our communities and families again.
Kevin is dedicated to getting our classrooms open and helping students catch up on a year of learning loss. It's time to get our kids back in school.
