Patriot,
After their usual Spring Break, the U.S.
House and Senate both return to session this week . . . and
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy
Pelosi have ambitious plans to keep the statist agenda moving
forward.
***Infrastructure: on the heels of several
multi-TRILLION dollar COVID relief bills, President Joe Biden has
proposed an "infrastructure" bill with a price tag somewhere
between $2-3 TRILLION. And just like the COVID bills, much of the
spending isn't related to infrastructure projects, but rather a
laundry list of crony capitalism and sweetheart deals for the
well-connected.
***Gun Control: Biden promised he would act
unilaterally on guns, and he did just that last week with an
executive order clamping down on homemade guns. While this will
surely be challenged in the courts, the left is once again living
up to their maxim of "never let a crisis go to waste." The Biden
administration is also working on "model" language for "Red Flag"
legislation which penalizes law-abiding citizens and denies due
process while criminals remain largely unaffected. Be on the
lookout for this bad legislation in the coming months.
***Election Theft: H.R 1/S. 1 has yet to move
in the Senate but Chuck Schumer has insisted there will be a
vote. I can only assume he doesn't have the needed votes right
now, but you can be sure there is backroom deal-making going on
to help get the votes. The Democrats need this bill to pass so
they can cement their position of power. And you and I must fight
it every step of the way to ensure fairness wins.
***Vaccine Passports: Biden and his
administration have flip-flopped on vaccine passports several
times - one day they acknowledge they are working on one, and
then the next they say otherwise. In the end, it appears as
though they are working behind the scenes with private businesses
and big tech to push a vaccine passport. They may even take the
backdoor approach of requiring companies like the airlines to
require proof of vaccination to fly and in return the airlines
will get billions of taxpayer dollars in the form of a bailout
from Congress.
One of the safeguards you and I have on these
issues and others right now is the Senate filibuster which
requires 60 votes to move most legislation forward.
You can be sure there is a lot of arm
twisting going on to change the minds of the two Democrat
senators - Joe Manchin (WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) - who have
indicated they favor keeping the filibuster in place. The
question remains whether either one will cave and agree to change
the Senate rules.
Throughout America's history, the pendulum
has swung to one extreme, but it always comes back. You and I
must be vigilant and keep the pendulum from swinging too far away
from liberty.
Yes, there will be some defeats along the
way, but there will also be victories. One of the things I'm most
proud of is the steady stream of reports from Campaign for
Liberty state leaders with victory after victory in the state
houses from coast to coast.
In the past few months, state Campaign for
Liberty groups have pushed back on things like ObamaCare
expansion, Red Light "scameras," various COVID measures, and tax
increases, while at the same time we have won offensive battles
including advancing sound money bills, constitutional carry, and
election integrity.
Patriot, the rest of 2021 promises to have
many challenges. I'm thankful to have you by my side in the fight
for liberty!
For liberty,
Ron Paul
Chairman
