Pennsylvania set a record for voter turnout in 2020, with nearly 71% of voting-aged residents casting a ballot.

That’s pretty incredible – especially in the face of the voter suppression tricks the GOP tried to pull, like moving to stop the processing of absentee votes before Election Day, pushing to limit how late mail-in ballots could be accepted, and intimidating Pennsylvanians trying to vote early.

No voter should have to jump through all these hoops just to exercise their right to vote. That’s why Matt and his colleagues in the House just passed the For the People Act , a sweeping voting rights and democracy bill that is now headed to the Senate.

The For the People Act would crack down on dark money and super PACs, root out corruption, and work to get big money out of politics, in addition to sweeping voting rights reforms which would expand voter registration efforts, early and absentee voting, and funding to make sure our elections are safe.

No one should be waiting in line for hours to cast their ballot. No one should have a mail ballot thrown out under too strict standards for acceptance. No one should miss their chance to vote because the polls closed in the late afternoon before their shift ended.
