196 legal and advocacy organizations sent a letter to the White House and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to ask the Biden administration to phase-out immigration detention, beginning with the closure of 10 specific facilities.
The groups say that to truly prioritize building a humane immigration system, the administration needs to address the institutions that perpetuate its current cruelty, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s detention system.
